Disappointing

We moved into a brand new construction home with 'upgraded kitchenaid appliances' and the dishwasher has not worked. We are now going through the process of requesting repairs, but it's very disappointing to spend extra for higher quality products and then have them not work. The same thing occurred with our kitchenaid microwave and we are also working on the replacement of this item. Two of three kitchenaid appliances were nonoperaple.

This dishwasher is very nice looking. I was so excited for it's arrival. Problem is that it doesn't clean or dry the dishes well. I always rinse my dishes and get teased from my kids asking me why we have a dishwasher if we put clean dishes in it. I have had this dishwasher for about a week and I really have nothing good to say except it looks nice from the outside. Does not seem to matter what setting I use. I open the dishwasher up in the morning to very wet not so clean dishes and silverware! I'm told I cannot return it for a better one so I'm stuck.

Frustrated

Just moved into my new house a little over a year ago and wanted to upgrade my dishwasher. All my appliances are KitchenAid, so I went with this one. What a mistake! After about 8 months, it stopped working all together. Push any buttons on top and nothing happens. So every time I have to run dishes, I have to unplug it to reset it! What a hassle for a very expensive, so called top of the line dishwasher. And to top it off, the top rack where the slide is, broke off at the welds! So now in order to run dishes,I had to zip tie it just to hold it up! This thing is falling apart just after the 1 year warranty expired! Don't try calling customer service either, tried that too! Every time it was over an hour and a half wait to just talk to someone! It really is a great ploy to have people hang up. I'm not on social media, so Facebook and Twitter are out. So do yourself a huge favor and go a different route. I'm ready to change out ALL of my appliances to a different brand. Wish there was an option for ZERO stars!

Rusting after One Year!
Rustowner
8/27/2019
In December of 2017, we purchased a full line of Kitchenaid Stainless Steel appliances for $5K (fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher similar to this one). We LOVE the function of the appliances and have not had ANY issues other than cosmetic. Every single one is rusting. I noticed it around one year later. When I would clean them, the rag was starting to turn yellow. This became more and more prominent and then you could see hundreds of small rust spots which every so slowly began to grow. I called Kitchenaid in May of 2019 and despite the issue not being covered, they sent someone out who verified that "Yes, that's a lot of rust!" and did not believe there was any reason to believe we were at fault. Kitchenaid replaced both doors on the refrigerator, but understandably the other appliances were not such an easy fix. After MANY phone conversations and lots of suggestions of what I could try, they eventually told me replacing the doors on the fridge was a "good faith gesture," but as all the appliances are rusting, they believe the problem is due to "the environment" they are being kept in. They admitted that their stainless steel is not actually completely stainless steel. They believe something has caused the protective coating that keeps the metal from rusting to be removed, causing the rust. They suggested numerous reasons as to how that could have happened. The humidity in "their environment" is too high. The appliances are in my kitchen, in a home in the middle of the midwest, not on a back porch or outdoor kitchen or even in a southern state where the humidty is higher. They suggested that perhaps I leave food out for too long and that has affected the "environment." They suggested that the chlorine level in my water might be too high and that I should contact my city and start using bottled water to clean the appliances. The only time I ever used anything other than the Kitchenaid cleaner was when they sent me something else to try and those instructions stated to wipe off with water when I applied the treatment. They suggested I used lemon juice. We do have another stainless steel refrigerator. In the same house. Cleaned the same way. Over 10 years old. And NO RUST. It's a Kenmore. A stainless steel wine fridge. No idea how old that is, but much older than the Kitchenaid appliances. NO RUST. A stainless steel toaster. 4 years old. No rust. Ultimately, I'm very disappointed that we upgraded to a brand that is well known for quality and are now stuck with perfectly functional, but rusting appliances.

BEWARE OF THE HANDLE
joe Dishwasher is a disas
7/12/2019
The design on the handle is a disaster. The handle is attached to the dishwasher with two tiny specially threaded screws. Of course they get loose causing the handle to at first get loose, then wobble and finally fall off. Nothing is covered under warranty and no screw in the home depot will fit the dishwasher. So you now will have to pry the dishwasher open after every use.

I bought this just over 1 year ago for over a 1000 dollars, spent the money on a company that I thought had good reliability..I thought wrong. 400 dollars later found out the mother board was bad and service tech from A to Z told me the part was not covered but labor was, well that turned out not true either.very frustrated that I spent and trusted this product..NEVER AGAIN..kitchen aid you should reimburse my expenses for this poor quality dishwasher, after spending over a thousand dollars it should last more than a year.

I've had my units for 3-4 years. They break down all the time. The first time it broke down I called for service and it was just out of warranty...my dime. Fine. So I used the other in the meantime. Because I so rarely used the second one the gaskets got dry rot...after 1 year... and it leaked everywhere. I had that repaired. Then I used them both equally from that point forward, which is once a day (alternating). They continued to break down and I had them serviced about every 2 months. The company that came out said nothing really could be done...they are just lemon units...both of them. Very disappointed. When they work they are super quiet and do a fine job. Shame. They have been overpriced drying racks for a few years.

I just bought this dishwasher a week ago. I've run it 3 times this week and every time it takes more than one try to get it to start :( Today will be the 4th time I've used it and I've tried 6xs and it still won't start. SO frustrating and I have no idea why and of course customer service isn't available on the weekends which is even more frustrating. This is my 2nd Kitchenaid./ I thought I'd give them another try even though my last one only last 6 years and several plastic pieces broke and a nasty back scum would build up inside the door.

We have had this dishwasher for just over a week. I love the quiet operation of the cycles. It is the single best feature of this product! However, I have noticed that there is lots of condensation on the walls and doors after the drying cycle. I have read everything I can find on the subject. All suggestions include rinse aid. We have used rinse aid, but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. I'm a bit disappointed because my previous dishwasher was dry throughout at the end of the cycle. Fortunately, my dishes are pretty dry, but I worry about mildew. I am also a bit disappointed that it didn't come with baskets for the top drawer, but I love the top knife drawer on top. The dispenser for detergent is designed well. I slides to easily close and accommodate "fat" dish tabs. Originally, I found it difficult to read the rinse aid level, but I have gotten used to it and can tell that there is some in the dispenser. I wish there was a more obvious indicator since my rinse aid is blue and the dispenser is gray. More contrast would be easier for my old eyes to see.
