I am so annoyed with Whirlpool. My father in law was an appliance repairman and always preached to buy a whirlpool. I bought this refrigerator with high hopes and have been so disappointed from the start. A drawer in the freezer broke within a month and I was told it was not under warranty. How can you design something that's all plastic in a freezer and not expect it to break. Whirlpool is not what is use to be!!!

Our side-by-side refrigerator is just 5 years old and the ice and water dispenser on the outside door went out. A repair man came out and looked at the door and found a short in the wiring harness that goes from the bottom of the door up into the ice and water dispenser. He said this was a problem with the Whirlpool products and I would have to get a new freezer door to correct the problem. It was going to be $1,400. Completely unacceptable! We are buying a new refrigerator. Not a Whirlpool!

I bought appliance in 4/2024. It is very loud, freezes food in the refrigerator at recommended settings, ice maker broke and had to be replaced in 4/2026. Just a poorly functioning and built appliance. I replaced whirlpool appliances with whirlpool appliances because historically they were built and performed well. This is not the case with this model.

Whirlpool failed with this one! I wanted to love it and although we are still using it and it does a good job keeping food frozen in the freezer and cold in the main compartment, there are many other issues. The ice maker doesn't work because the genius who designed it, put the wiring harness down in the corner of door jam where it rubs until the wires are actually cut in half. I have re-wired it multiple times even having a professional do it one time. Unfortunately each time it only holds for so long. We now use a counter top ice maker. The shelves also fail and Crack easily. Ive order replacements and they break again. What a waste.

This fridge is now 3 years old. I researched it like crazy and though I had made the right decision. It was fine for the first two years, but then the ice tray started cracking. The water then started to go to a dribble. Things freeze if it is on the side or the back of the fridge. I have been through 4 ice makers and I open up the ice maker every Monday now to clear out all the ice gathered on top of the machine and check the tray for cracks.

I have owned this refrigerator for 5 years now. It is mechanically sound, no issues with the refrigerator, freezer, or the ice maker/water dispenser. The outside of the unit is good; magnetic stainless steel is holding up well. The inside of the unit has been a problem since the first few months. It is made with the flimsiest plastic parts I have encountered outside of a McDonald™€™s Happy Meal. I immediately (within the first couple months) contacted the manufacturer and without seeing it or any pictures of it, I was told that it is cosmetic and that we must have ™€œoverloaded the shelves™€. I found replacement parts for the supports. Then the drawers started disintegrating, handles have come apart, trim crumbles when touched. The price they™€™re asking for the pans is astronomical. This unit is for the daily necessities. I have a garage unit (not a WP) that is ™€œpacked™€. I was raised in a house with a refrigerator, I am familiar with refrigerators and the fact that things are not built to last. I did expect a lot more than this weak ™€œstuff™€. And I am now familiar with Whirlpool quality (lack of) and their lack of concern with the absolute ™€œstuff™€ they sell. I spent a good amount of money on the unit (~$2K) which was more than the Korean alternatives that looked attractive. But I thought buying WP was supposed to be USA quality and supporting our workers. Well, I am sorry that I helped WP, who I am pretty sure bought the inner parts from the cheapest source in China and had Mexico assemble them - and they won™€™t stand behind the Chinese ™€œquality™€. For me, not next time for sure! As soon as I have budgeted for it, I will throw this weak ™€œstuff™€ out to the curb, as I would be embarrassed to even give it to anyone. I make sure to advertise for them every chance I get- when I see someone looking at appliances in any store I tell them all the things above. When I hear someone talk about bad quality, I bring this up.

I honestly wished I hadn™€™t purchased this fridge! The ice maker has been troublesome six months after purchase. Then it just started pouring the water into the bin and freezing in the bin as a huge block of ice. Water constantly dripped out and down the fridge from the thawing block where the ice would come out. Warranty company came and determined we need a new door. We still don™€™t have it and have not been provided an update. They recommended signing up for the extended warranty so I did and was double billed. They have asked for proof and I provided them my credit card statement. It™€™s been a month now and still waiting for my refund. Our stove, microwave, dishwasher and old fridge are Whirlpool and never had any issues. They were all purchased 15 years ago when we bought our house.

We've had it about two years. We had a tech come out to check out why it would freeze food on one side of the fridge. He tried adjusting the temperature. It still freezes to this day. It makes it hard to avoid putting food in the right side because the space is limited as it is. It's a side by side refrigerator.

I bought this refrigerator 8 months ago, and it's worked well. The two doors make it easy to access items in the refrigerator. The ice maker works great. Downside is it's a bit noisy at times, and the doors show signs of minor rust. Trying to contact customer support is a game of waiting.

Constant repeating issue

Have had this model for 4 months new delivered after waiting 4 months after purchasing in December from Home Depot. First issue a fan that would go on and off for about 3 second intervals. Have set the temperature to the recommended settings. Second issue Freezer side had a lot of frost, and ice build up in the back cooling coils. The temperature has gone down to -14. Third issue, refrigerator side temp was climbing to 53 deg. There has been 3 visits so far from a technician provided by the warrenty department. 1st visit, diagnosing, 2nd visit, replaceing the control module, 3rd visit, fan replacement. It has been 24 days since the last visit, the frosting, freezer temp dropping, fridge side rising, fan turning on and off again.

Problems already but hopefully not lasting

We purchased on 9/24/25. In less than a week the compressor went bad. We waited two weeks for the right part to be repaired. Repairman was great and was finally repaired on 10/9/25. Working well so far. Other than that we are happy with the style and functionality of our refrigerator.

It was freezing everything in the fridge at first. Also the lock button and automatic fill buttons should not be near each other. For two days it wasn't on at all. It was very hard to get it back on. There should have been a better manual with it.

Good Price

"Purchased Refrig -Freezer two weeks ago do failure of model that was 18 yrs old. Unit is working fine not issues. This was purchased as scratch and dent from local store. One vent in freezer broke and would not stick to roof of freezer. New part ordered and will be installed today under warranty. Price was good. Larger that last one.

The display of the temperature, water dispensed

We bought our fridge over a month ago because our old fridge wasn™€™t keeping our food cold enough. We love the side by side. I like that I don™€™t have to bend down looking for food in my freezer. That was a back breaker! I have so much more shelving in the fridge area. I also like the water dispenser on the outside of the door. Our old one was on the inside and it seems that this was a defeating feature to have to open door to get water.

It would a much better product if shelving were adjustable, both main interior shelves and door shelves. Otherse, aside from some noises when operating (3 years running), it has been fine.

American Made>

SO FAR SO GOOD I HOPE 9/30/2025

Not sure if its American made or just assembled in USA ??!! Great size 28 cf. so far working fine but makes some strange noise then stops. Whirlpool makes its hard to buy their American products anymore. I've had older Whirlpool washers, dryers, refrigs that lasted 15 + years. Last washer i bought in 2023 lasted lasted less than 2 years and cost or repair was more than half cost of new one. So Whirlpool you need to do better!!!
